IASC 3P06 - Game Criticism Critical methods from literary, film and cultural contexts, informed by the emerging canon of game criticism, and applied to games as expressive and cultural artifacts. Discourse analysis focusing on game genres, perspective, hardware platforms, computational frameworks, gameplay affordances, narratives, ludology and the process of meaning making.
Course Format: Lecture, lab, 3 hours per week. Restrictions: Open to GAMD and GAMP majors with a minimum of 9.0 overall credits or permission of the Centre for Digital Humanities. Prerequisite(s): IASC 2P04 and IASC 2P05 or permission of the Centre for Digital Humanities Course Notes: This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
