How to use this Calendar



The Undergraduate Academic Calendar contains both Academic and Administrative sections for students and Faculty to reference. The calendar holds the most current information on programs and courses, as well as rules and regulations as reflected in the Academic Regulations & University Policies section.

The Academic Calendar is published once a year (usually in early February) with the aim of minimual updates and corrections made throughout the year. The calendar takes effect May 1 (the beginning of the academic year).

The information contained with the course bank is also linked to the registration timetable.

The Academic Calendar lists the programs in alpha order with most chapters containing:

Department Information

►A link to the Department and/or program website “contact us” page for a live and up-to-date list of faculty, instructors, and other support staff

General Information

►Provides a general overview and details about the Department/Centre/Program

Program Notes

►Highlights any important notes to reference when completing your program of study

Program Requirement

►Outlines the required courses necessary to complete the program

Courses as part of the Program

►Provides all courses (required or optional) listed as part of the program

Core and Context Credits

Core and Context credit requirements are outlined in the requirements of each program. To find a list of approved context credits in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences you will review the Academic Regulations & University Policies section:

Here, the Faculty Senate approved list of context credits is available. If you are unsure of which course to take, please connect with an Academic Advisor.

If you are interested in reviewing which degrees, certificates, micro-certificates, or minors Brock has to offer, a complete list is included in the academic calendar. From there, you can search for the appropriate calendar chapter to determine the requirements.

Academic Advising

Your Academic Advisor is dedicated to helping you achieve your academic goals, step-by-step, from year one to graduation. It is a good idea to see your academic advisor when:

►Considering dropping or withdrawing from a course
►Clarifying academic policies, procedures and regulations
►Determining academic standing
►Experiencing academic difficulty
►Requesting a degree audit
►Planning for degree programs
►Choosing courses
►Adding a minor
►Returning from an absence

Brock Academic Advising, the academic advising team within the Office of the Registrar & Enrolment Services, is specifically designated for the students described below.

►Students looking to change their majors and/or explore adding a minor to their degree
►Undeclared or Undecided students
►Students in BA Social Sciences, General Humanities or BSc Science programs (i.e. without a specific major and formerly General Studies)
►Students on Academic Probation
►Students returning to studies following an absence
►Students who have general questions about university rules and regulations

Department specific academic advising is designated for students who have degree-specific questions and who have a specific major.
