The Bachelor of Arts (Pass) Community Health program focuses on community health and wellness emphasizing health promotion and health assessment as well as program development and evaluation. This foundational degree provides a broad overview of societal trends and systems related to health issues. Early during undergraduate studies, it is the students’ responsibility to research prerequisites for advanced courses as well as admission requirements for any post-graduate programs to which they may plan to apply.
Program Notes
- To proceed to year 2, students must achieve a minimum grade of 60 percent in HLSC 1F90 and 60 percent in STAT 1P98 or STAT 1P99 , and have a minimum 60 percent major average and a minimum 60 percent overall average. To continue in the program after second year, students must achieve and maintain a minimum 60 percent major average and a minimum 60 percent overall average. Students who do not have grade 12 mathematics credit, will be required to complete STAT 1P21 , prior to completing STAT 1P98 or STAT 1P99 .
- BIOL 1P23, BIOL 1P24 , BIOL 1P27, BIOL 1P28, BIOL 1P91 or BIOL 1P92 are recommended for students in the Community Health program.
- At least one credit each year must be taken outside the Department of Health Sciences. Suggested electives include CANA 1F91 , COMM 1P96 , COMM 1P97 , CHYS 1F90 , ENGL 1P92 , ENSU 2P01 , ENSU 2P02 , GEOG 1F90, HIST 1P90 , IASC 1F02 , INDG 1F90 , PSYC 1F90 , SOCI 1P90 , SOCI 1P91 , TOUR 1P91 , TOUR 1P92 , WGST 1F90 .
- In 15 credit degree programs a maximum of eight credits may be numbered 1(alpha)00 to 1(alpha)99; at least three credits must be numbered 2(alpha)90 or above; and the remaining credits must be numbered 2(alpha)00 or above.
In some circumstances, in order to meet university degree and program requirements, more than 15 credits may be taken.
