*TOUR 3P32 - Evolution of Tourism in Niagara


Overview and critical analysis of historical patterns of tourism in the Niagara region since the arrival of European settlers. Temporal and spatial changes in regional tourism destinations. Importance of commercial and non-commercial tourism attractions in the context of broader community and economic development processes. Evolution of various Niagara tourism sectors, such as wine, culinary, heritage, and rural tourism.

Course Format: Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week.
Prerequisite(s): Two TOUR or GEOG credits numbered 1(alpha)90 to 2(alpha)99 or permission of the instructor
Cross-Listing(s): GEOG 3P32  
Course Notes: The course will include multiple field trips within the Niagara Region during class-time throughout the term. Students are expected to pay their own expenses.
