STAT 1P21 - Preparation for Introductory Statistics A review of basic arithmetic and algebra required for elementary data analysis and an introduction to some fundamental concepts and techniques in statistics. Simplifying algebraic expressions, powers and roots, ratios, proportions, percentages, linear equations, summation notation, exponential functions; organizing and describing data sets, basic probability and counting principles, random variables and probability distributions.
Course Format: Lectures 2 hours per week, lab/tutorial 1 hour per week Restrictions: Not open to Mathematics and Statistics (single or combined) majors. Not open to students with credit in any university statistics course. Prerequisite(s): One grade 11 mathematics credit. Course Notes: Cannot be used toward a Mathematics teachable subject at Brock. This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term. Software fee required.
Exclusions: Completion of this course will replace previously assigned grade and credit obtained in STAT 1F92.
