ENGR 1P01 - Fundamentals of Engineering Design Design skills including: How to design? Principles of problem definition, Sustainable engineering design practice, Design with materials. Project management fundamentals - Project planning, Decision making, Problem-solving techniques, Optimum design, Team-based design project. Visualization and communication - Sketching design concepts, Introduction to commercial computer-aided design and drafting software applications (e.g., Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor); Introduction to engineering calculation and numerical computing applications (e.g. Excel, MATLAB).
Course Format: Lectures, 3 hours per week; lab, 2 hours per week Restrictions: Open to BEng majors and minor students until date specified in Registration guide or permission of instructor Co-requisite(s): ENGR 1N00
