NUSC 4F92 - Community Health Nursing


Theory and practice emphasizing primary health care principles, assessment and health promotion with individuals, families, aggregates and communities.

Course Format: Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week; community practicum 15 hours per week; selected laboratory sessions.
Restrictions: Open to Nursing majors and permission of the Department.
Prerequisite(s): NUSC 3P94 
Course Notes: Police record check with a vulnerable sector screening is required. Agency policies will determine submission deadline. Check with Department. Students require current CPR (BCLS or Level C) certification and annual re-certification, N-95 mask fit testing every two years, proof of Immunizations (COVID-19, Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Varicella; Hepatitis B; Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis; Tuberculosis) as well as annual TB Skin Testing. Immunization, CPR and mask fit requirements must be valid through the clinical placement and submitted to Synergy Gateway Inc. by June 1. Failure to comply with the due date will result in student not being permitted to register in clinical courses for the current academic year. Clinical practicum may be scheduled in the evening and/or on weekends. Transportation to clinical placement is a student responsibility. A practicum fee will be applied. This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
