NUSC 1F18 - Nursing Theory and Clinical Practicum: Experiencing Illness and Hospitalization


Introductory concepts in health, illness, and wellness. Theoretical application and integration of psycho-social-motor knowledge, skills and abilities related to nursing practice in caring for adult clients experiencing illness and hospitalization.

Course Format: Theory, Lectures, 3 hours per week. Nursing Simulation Lab, 3 hours per week. Nursing Clinical Practicum, 9 hours per week.
Restrictions: Open to Nursing majors
Prerequisite(s): NUSC 1P10  and NUSC 1P12 
Course Notes: Students require current CPR (BLS, Level C or HCP) certification and annual re-certification, N-95 mask fit testing every two years, proof of Immunizations (COVID-19, Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Varicella; Hepatitis B; Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis; Tuberculosis) as well as annual TB Skin Testing. All requirements must be valid through the clinical placement and submitted to Synergy Gateway Inc. by the first day of fall term for new students (June 1 for returning students). Failure to comply with the due date will result in student not being permitted to register in clinical courses for the current academic year. Clinical practicum may be scheduled in the evening and/or on weekends. Transportation to clinical placement is a student responsibility. A practicum fee will be applied. This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
Exclusions: Completion of this course will replace previous assigned grade in NUSC 1P14 or NUSC 1P16.
