HLSC 3P97 - Medical Microbiology Overview of disease-causing infectious agents including bacteria, fungi, viruses, prions and parasites. Biological principles of infection and the interactions between pathogens and the immune system. Clinical importance of infectious disease and main methods for laboratory diagnosis. Diseases of major importance as learning examples.
Course Format: Lectures, 3 hours per week. Restrictions: Open to MSCI and Nursing majors until date specified in Registration guide. After that date open to BMED, CHHS, CHLH, CMTY, MSCI, PHTH and Nursing majors. Students must have a minimum of 8.5 overall credits. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 1P91 and BIOL 1P92 (1F90) Course Notes: This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
