CHEM 2P30 - Introduction to Molecular Symmetry, Structure and Bonding Molecular symmetry (symmetry elements, operations and point groups) and basic group theory as applied to qualitative molecular orbital theory and bonding in selected p-block molecules, bonding and reactivity in organic molecules and simple Hückel Molecular Orbital (HMO) theory.
Course Format: Lectures, 3 hours per week Restrictions: Open to CHEM (single or combined), CHEN, BCHM, BPHY, BTEC, OEVI majors, Sciences (general) students and CHEM minors until date specified in Registration guide. After that date open to CHEM (single or combined), CHEN, BCHM, BPHY, Bsc (Honours)/BEd (Intermediate/Senior), BSc (Honours)/BEd (Junior/Intermediate), BTEC, OEVI majors, Sciences (general) students and CHEM minors until date specified in Registration guide. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1P91 and CHEM 1P92 Course Notes: This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
